Azuma works for Kansai's Kadokanegumi, protecting Sumire and Tsubaki Asaba. Before this, he was the attendant and close friend of Wakasa, and was able to survive the destruction of Hogougumi with only a scar across his face. He always intervenes whenever Wakasa is being badmouthed, wanting to protect her reputation. Despite doing his best to protect him, Azuma believed for years that Shiki had been killed by Garyukai. After finding out that Shiki is still alive, Azuma tries to get him to leave Garyukai despite Shiki attacking him multiple times. The first time he bumps into Tsukasa, Azuma is taken aback at the resemblance between her and Wakasa. After confirming that Tsukasa is Wakasa's daughter, he doesn't hesitate to point out the physical and behavioral similarities between the two, despite Tsukasa's anger.
