She is a former mermaid who turned into a human male granted by the deity in the pond in exchange for a year's worth of Manato's life. She wanted to become a human to fall in love. After she turns into a human, when she drinks a beer, she temporarily turns back into her mermaid form. When she was still a mermaid, she met a boy in the sea. The first time she met him, he was with a girl who he loved. But the the girl was married to another man. The boy was alone when she saw him the second time. She confronted him. She tried to comfort him by telling him to not fall in love ever again so he will not feel the pain of losing someone one day. But he told him about love and how a world without it is boring. That is the primary reason why she tried to go to the human world and wished to become human so she can experience the love that the boy told her about that day.
