In Yaiba Soshi Okita is a participant in the Oda Nobunaga tournament who has a very laid back attitude. He made a promise with his grandfather that he could quit practicing kendo if he won the tournament. He disliked kendo because found it too easy. He encounters Yaiba in the fourth round when Yaiba trips over him while he is sleeping in the grass. When the two fought, it was clear that Soshi was the better fighter. Yaiba refused to give up and his death termination eventually led Soshi to forfeit the match. Soshi then decides that he will continue to practice kendo. In Detective Conan Soshi is due to face Heiji in the final round of a kendo tournament, and he assists in solving a murder at a kendo tournament. He is encountered again during Shinichi and Ran's school's trip to Kyoto, as he brought his friends with him to help deal with the multiple tengus running loose. Ran has to tell him something to which when she does, Sonoko sends a picture of their exchange to Shinichi, who becomes jealous over the possible thought that Ran may have fallen in love with Soshi. It is later revealed that Ran wanted to talk to Soshi because he'd left something behind at the kendo murder case, and her father accidentally opened it to see a picture of Soshi's crush, Moroha Kurogane, who is the little sister of Soshi's rival Yaiba. Soshi claims that he will go out with her once he defeats Yaiba. He asks Ran not to mention it to Momiji Ooka, his classmate. He looks like Shinichi and Heiji He is the historical Okita Soji's grandson. Soshi Okita III appeared in episode 71 of the anime Lupin III: Part II, a source of inspiration for Detective Conan.
